Heat Insulating Windows

Idea submitted by:- Mario De Lio - Mechanical Engineering Technology

A thin clear film gets installed to the surface of windows which helps the window retain heat in the winter minimizing energy costs. In addition it also keeps the heat out in summer which can further the energy savings.

According to 3M roughly 20% of a buildings energy lost through windows and doors. Lastly in turn I think this would also be extremely beneficial to the Hamilton community because it provides a low cost method to save a great amount of energy. With the right marketing could introduce faculty and students to an idea that can further reduce their carbon footprint if they implement this idea at home.

This is sustainable as it will save energy by reducing the amount of energy (heat loss and gain) from windows.
