Insulating Green Roof

Idea submitted by: Brittany Dey - Medical Radiation Sciences

Instead of a typical roof, install a green roof. It improves air quality and improves thermal performance by acting as an insulation barrier - reducing heat loss in the winter, which could save on heating bills. It also would provide a space to grow food or for relaxation. To build the green roof, recycled material can be used and any compost collected in the current bins. Additionally, the green roof would help with any rain water drainage.

This would improve sustainability at Mohawk by conserving energy.
